Fine Arts

The Department of Fine Art prioritizes the cultivation of creative artists. Especially, its objective is to cultivate artists who re-interpret traditional senses of beauty in their unique ways, as well as lead contemporary fine art with an acute sensitivity of the current visual culture.

We cultivate teachers of art, fully equipped with the latest methodologies and strong conviction in creative art education through undergraduate or graduate courses, as well as scholars, curators and critics with profound knowledge of history and theories related to art, and leading professionals in art derivative areas such as design perspectives.

The department selects 18 students for undergraduate study and 22 for the Oriental Painting majors, respectively. Selection criteria include transcript (40%), and the Scholastic Practical Skills Test- applicants may draw a motif in the style of Korean Ink paintings on rice paper, and those wishing to study painting, should draw a watercolor picture on paper, for a total of three and a half hours.
